Ayodhya: Scam of 20 crores surfaced in development works, contractors got undue benefits, revealed in CAG report

A shocking news is coming out from Ayodhya. Here a scam of 20 crores has come to light in the development works done under the Swadesh Darshan scheme. The Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) has disclosed this in its report. In the work done around Guptarghat of Ramnagari, the issue of giving undue advantage to the contractors is coming to the fore. Administrative stir has increased due to this report of CAG.

The CAG audited the Swadesh Darshan scheme between January 2015 and March 2022, the report of which was presented in Parliament on Wednesday and said that Rs 19.73 crore was wrongly given to contractors in six projects in six states. Ayodhya is part of the Ramayana circuit under the Swadesh Darshan scheme. For this, a budget of 127 crore 21 lakh was approved on 27 September 2017. Out of this, Rs 115 crore has been released so far.

The CAG report on project-related undue benefits in Ayodhya states that the contractor of the Uttar Pradesh Rajkiya Nirman Nigam, the executing agency, had to deposit a performance guarantee at the rate of five per cent of the contract value of Rs 62.17 crore, which translates to around Rs 3.11 crore. . But the contractor deposited only Rs 1.86 crore. Not only this, questions were also raised on the monitoring of the schemes, due to which administrative negligence is clearly exposed.

All questions are being answered

Point-wise answers have been given to all the objections raised by the audit team in the development works done near Guptarghat. For deduction of GST, the audit team had spoken of recovery on irregular payment of Rs 57.73 lakh. We have recovered about 65 lakhs in his place. Apart from this, all the questions asked by the CAG are being answered.
